Teeter wants to encourage you to get more limber! Yes, we know that getting more flexible is difficult, but there are so many benefits that you’re missing out on if you don’t try! Flexibility is one of the keys to relieve stress, have better posture, and relieve back pain.

When most people think of getting more flexible, usually the first thing that comes to mind is stretching. Yes, slow and rhythmic stretching is a great way to increase flexibility, but stretching alone may not fix the reason why you’re not flexible. Foam rolling enhances stretching by loosening tissue to allow for a greater stretch.

Foam rolling loosens your muscles by targeting trigger points and releasing your stiff myofascial tissue to become more elastic. The Teeter Better Back Foam Roller is the ideal way to not only help increase flexibility but provide other benefits like better posture or strengthen abdominal muscles and improve balance.

Foam Rolling Unties “Knots” in Your Muscle

Muscle fibers run in all different directions in our body and muscles are layered on top of each other from our heads to our toes. After sitting at the computer or in front of the TV for hours in the same position, your muscle fibers become inflexible and start to stick to one another. You’re then left with a lump feeling called a “knot.” Knots inhibit flexibility and can keep you from even touching your toes!

The firm, curved surface of the Better Back Foam Roller is easy to maneuver and can deliver targeted relief to massage muscles. Foam Rolling can help release these knots to decrease muscle stiffness and pain.

Foam Rolling can also help increase blood flow to massaged areas. More blood flow to muscles means increased range of motion and better movement. These benefits are keys to make a more flexible you.

How to Foam Roll

To foam roll properly, apply moderate pressure to a specific muscle or muscle group using the roller and your bodyweight. You should roll slowly, no more than one inch per second. When you find areas that are tight or painful, pause for several seconds and relax as much as possible. You should slowly start to feel the muscle releasing, and after 5-30 seconds the discomfort or pain should lessen.

If an area is too painful to apply direct pressure, shift the roller and apply pressure on the surrounding area and gradually work to loosen the entire area. The goal is to restore healthy muscles – it is not a pain tolerance test so don’t try to do too much at one time!
